Sergio and I have been friends for over 15 years; Then you can imagine all the beautiful things we experience, the trivia, the camaraderie. We had already worked together on the Chili, mole y pozole program six years ago.
What does it mean for you to bring your passion for cooking to television?
When I started doing TV, I saw it as a challenge, I said to myself: I have to learn and do things well. After 11 years, I can tell you that I like to communicate what I do and share with people my life experiences in the kitchen, and also outside.
What other passions do you have?
I like to travel, to dance salsa with my child; I am a person of moderate tastes, the activities which are to be discovered, I like them very much.
When traveling, do you prefer the forest, the beach or the jungle?
It all adds up to the experience, traveling seems to me to be one of the things that makes us most vulnerable – you don’t sleep in your bed and you won’t eat your everyday food. I love this vulnerability, it allows you to open your eyes to a new world, wherever you are. I am always ready to say: “what am I going to get out of this country, especially through its gastronomy. I consider myself a very privileged woman to have the opportunity to travel, as a chef it is very enriching.
What do you like to eat?
I like everything. It depends on the company and where you are located. I really like the Esquites when I get home, and I can also taste a few oysters in Brittany, a good pasta in northern Italy or a good tlacoyo in Toluca.
How did you know I wanted to be a chef?
I have been cooking since I was little, especially with my father. As a career, I am an economist and a political scientist. I’m fascinated by the numbers, the whole social part, but I’ve always cooked and one day I gave it all up, I said, “Now I want to start cooking professionally, and life has led me on. this magnificent path that is gastronomy.
