A woman has been arrested for stabbing and killing an 18-year-old believed to be her husband’s nephew.

Police public relations officer Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed as much in a statement released in Abeokuta, the state capital, over the weekend.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a distress call received by police officers attached to Agbado Division headquarters indicating that a boy had been stabbed in the neck by his uncle’s wife, at following a misunderstanding over broken glass.

“It was revealed that a glass mirror used in the house had broken and that the deceased allegedly broke it,” the statement read in part.

“It was the allegation that led to a disagreement between the deceased and his uncle’s wife, following which the suspect took a kitchen knife and stabbed the deceased in the neck.”

The PPRO claimed that upon the distress call, Divisional Police Officer, Agbado Division CSP Kehinde Kuranga quickly led his men to the scene, where the suspect was quickly arrested, and the victim who was in the mare of her own blood was rushed to hospital. .

“He was unfortunately confirmed dead by the doctor on duty and his body was deposited at the morgue of Ifo General Hospital for autopsy”

Police Commissioner, CP Lanre Bankole, however, ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the State Department of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
